Milestones Youth Home serves youth in crisis placements, court-ordered placements, and serves as an alternative to jail placement. Crisis-placements are short-term placements designed to give youth, ages 10-17, and their families a time-out. This type of placement gives families an opportunity to work with our trained staff to address the conflict at hand. Working with the family, we assess what has transpired, what has worked, and what needs to change.

District Court Judges typically order long-term placements. Youth who are court-ordered work through our program with a plan established by their treatment team in order to develop a cognitive outcome for reentry into their home environment.

The alternative to jail placements are of various lengths designed to function as detention for youth. Judges will place individuals at our youth home for up to 48 hours rather than placing youth in juvenile detention centers or adult jails. This time allows the youth to evaluate their situation, to remain in the community, and continue attending school.

• shelter for homeless and runaway youth

The structure and supervision provided to all placements encourages each youth to take control of their behaviors and begin to make responsible decisions that will enhance the likelihood of a successful return to the family and community.
