Volunteers of America is offering FREE parenting classes for parents and family members in recovery from substance abuse.  Classes will be held once a week starting Tuesday, March 4th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at The Jackson Center, 1095 Saberton Street.

This parenting curriculum is based on the Love & Logic philosophy founded by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D. It provides simple and practical techniques to help parents have less stress and more fun while raising responsible kids. Love and Logic offers many useful techniques that parents can begin experimenting with immediately.

Topics covered in the curriculum will include raising responsible kids, letting empathy and consequences do the teaching, creating opportunity for thinking and decision-making, and understanding control that is shared. These concepts along with specific behavioral interventions that occur in substance abusing homes will aide in raising responsible children.

Funding for Parenting Classes provided by the Wyoming Department of Health Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division.
