The following are potential volunteer opportunities within Volunteers of America Wyoming & Montana’s programs. These are considered short-term or one-time projects with the potential of becoming long-term projects.  For more information on volunteer opportunities contact Jessica Flahive at jflahive@voawy.org.

Day Care 

  • Story-Time Volunteer: Read with day care children
  • Activities Assistant: Teach or conduct recreational activities including arts and craft projects

Youth Home

  • Activities Assistant: Teach or conduct recreational activities including arts and craft projects
  • Tutor: Help with homework and present programs on subjects of interest to age group
  • Recreational Aid: Assist with sports and share talents and interests with youth
  • Life Skills Trainer: Teach life skills to young adults
  • Mentor: Serve as a role model, share career experience, provide guidance/education in areas of budgeting, homemaking, parenting, car maintenance, etc

Foster Care

  • Activities Assistant: Teach or conduct recreational activities including arts and craft projects
  • Tutor: Help with homework and present programs on subjects of interest to age group
  • Extended Family: Provide extended family support to children in our care
  • Mentor: Serve as a role model, share career experience, provide guidance/education in areas of budgeting, homemaking, parenting, car maintenance, etc

Independent Living

  • Activities Assistant: Teach or conduct recreational activities including arts and craft projects

Substance Abuse

  • Activities Assistant: Teach or conduct recreational activities including arts and craft projects
  • Bible Study Facilitator: Teach a Bible study group
  • Career Speaker: Teach or demonstrate a skill you excel in or discuss your profession with adults
  • Parent Support Group Facilitator: Co-facilitate support groups for parents in recovery
  • Career Aids: Assist young adults to find and keep jobs
  • Childcare Assistant: Provide care for children while their parents attend parenting classes
  • Recreational Aid: Provide education and assistance with physical health
  • Life Skills Trainer: Teach life skills to adults
  • Fifth Step Listener

Community Enhancement

  • Book Donation Volunteer: Sort books and help distribute
  • Special Projects Volunteer: Assist with seasonal and holiday projects including fruit and food basket distribution

Shelter

  • Clothing Sorter: Sort clothing at homeless shelter
  • Career Aids: Assist individuals to find and keep jobs
  • Instructors: Teach computer skills and job skills
  • Garage Sale: Assist with summer garage sale fundraiser

Corrections

  • Life Skills Trainer: Teach life skills to young adults
  • Mentor: Serve as a role model, share career experience, provide guidance/education in areas of budgeting, homemaking, parenting, car maintenance, etc
  • Career Aids: Assist young adults to find and keep jobs
  • Career Speaker: Teach or demonstrate a skill you excel in or discuss your profession with adults

Elderly

  • Caring Companion: Visit in the home, telephone buddy, letter buddy, outing buddy, church buddy
  • Bridge Builders: Assist with independent living activities such as shopping and cooking
  • Homemaker Aide: Help an elderly person keep his/her apartment clean
  • Handyman: Perform minor home repairs to keep seniors safe in their homes

Miscellaneous

  • Administrative Assistant: Provide clerical support to programs
  • Food Deliverers
  • Christmas Decorations Program: Decorate homes of low-income families, residential facilities and shelter
  • Special Events/Projects Committee
  • Groundskeeper: Maintain the grounds of program facilities
